Holz ist ein lebendiges Arbeitsmaterial und vom Erscheinungsbild stellt es sich
durch die vielfältigsten Oberflächenstrukturen dar. Mit dem Holzdruck lassen sich Geschichten erzählen, die die Phantasie anregen und sowohl naturalistische als auch abstrakte Assoziationen zulassen. Zum Beispiel "Holzgeschichten" und andere Drucke veranschaulichen diese Absicht.

Das Holzschnitt-Motiv wird mit dem Druckstock auf die Leinwand gedruckt und danach wird die Leinwand mit Ölfarben bemalt. Das Ergebnis ist eine Synthese zwischen Holzschnittdruck und Malerei auf der Leinwand.

Die Illusion des Wolkenkuckucksheims:

Aus der Mühsal zu entfliehen, um sich dann in ein Wolkenkuckucksheim zurückzuziehen, ist ein tief verwurzelter Wunsch im Menschen, wenn Sorgen ihn zu erdrücken drohen. Dass er sich damit einer Illusion hingibt, ist zunächst belanglos, wenn er damit zufriedener ist.
Der Holzschnitt veranschaulicht auf expressive und vereinfachte Weise die Idee, die Mühsal des Lebens dem nackten Menschen gegenüberzustellen, der mit sich selbst zufrieden ist, glaubt den Schlüssel des Glücks festhalten zu können und doch mit seinen Wünschen, Hoffnungen und Ideen allein ist.

The illusion of a cloud-cuckoo-land:
To escape from the trials and tribulations of life and then retreat to a cloud-cuckoo-land – this is man’s deeply rooted wish when worries threaten to overwhelm him. That, by doing this, he labours under an illusion is, for the moment, irrelevant if he is happier with it.
In an expressive and simplified way, the woodcut illustrates the idea to confront the hardships of life with naked man who is satisfied with himself, who believes to be able to keep a firm hold on the key to happiness and yet who is alone with his wishes, hopes, and ideas.

Geht es nicht vielen Menschen so, dass sie sich oft in Lebenssituationen wiederfinden, die sie als erdrückend empfinden, wobei sie alles, was auf sie einstürmt, abweisen möchten?
Gestisch wird dieser Gedanke sinnbildlich zum Ausdruck gebracht, wobei Farben, Linien, Strukturen und Formen die Idee verdeutlichen.

Does it not happen to many people that they find themselves in situations of life which they regard as oppressive? That they want to reject everything that assails them? Symbolically, this thought is expressed in a gesticulative manner; colours, lines, structures, and shapes clarify this idea furthermore.

Nymphen sind nach der griech. und röm. Mythologie, in Gestalt junger Frauen, Tanz und Musik liebende Naturgeister. Bis heute ist diese Vorstellung über Nymphen lebendig geblieben.
